laminate flooring

tadaaaa....on Sunday, the shop came to install floor in my masterbedroom. Previously, the room have only tiles and apart from it is still cement floor. I had to give in to my hubby choice because the grill pattern was my choice and he hates one of the leaves on the grill. To make him stop saying about the grill, I had to give in with the floor choice. I prefer 4 patterns on a plank. While he prefers one pattern on one plank. He told me it will make the room look bigger.

Anyway, when it finished, it was superb. I loved my room. Now you will feel you want to stay in it. Even my son loves it. He will stomped his feet on it and bring his fire brigade toy in the room.

My room size is 10' x 14'. We bought it from home deco expo. It cost around RM1,200.

Let's browse my beautiful floor. I loved it. The room looks more spacious. *tip: always put the lines at the longer side and it will make your room looks bigger.

Curtains in Nilai3

Finally, we bought our curtains in Nilai3. We went around most of the shops in Nilai3. We were very exhausted, tired and it was very hot day. We bought the curtain from the first shop we went. If I knew, I would simply by when we first step into that shop. It is RM30/meter. All the cheap curtains cannot compare when I already fall in love with this curtain. What makes it expensive because it is 100% blackout. the sun cannot penetrate through the curtains. At the back of the curtain, still have pattern eventhough the material is blackout. It is shining, most of all the I liked about it. It is thick and quality. Plus it is the latest design.
They can sew it around 1 hour. We finally went back around 8 p.m.

Sample from one of the exclusive shop. Very very nice and expensive.
Another example from the exclusive shop.
Simple and nice.
Simple but nice.
this is my option curtain. Reasonable price. I have to option, one red colour flower another is purple. I took the purple because the colour is more interesting.

Other sample pattern with same materials.
tadaaaa...my curtains. Feel like a resort.
Very beautiful. Feels like in a hotel.
My room. Simple.
Roman blind for the kitchen. It cost around RM250.

Grills are ready!

Yeay. At last the grills are ready to be installed. I am so happy. After this we can move in. We were only waiting for th grills. Without grills it is not safe to stay in the house eventhough all the neighbours said it is a safe neighbourhood. Never take things for granted.

Here are my grills. I am very satisfied. The grill make other people who walk by will glance. It looks modern and beautiful as what I was hopping. Alhamdulilah.

Kain 1Malaysia

I went to Kain 1Malaysia to survey for curtain for my new house. If I'm lucky I will like one of the curtains in the shop with bargain price. The address is:

No1, Jalan Lagenda Suria,
Taman Lagenda Suria,
Batu 14 Hulu Langat,
Selangor Darul Ehsan

Unfortunately, there are not many option as I am a bit fussy in choosing the colour and pattern that I like. Anyway, the price is worth it. At last, we did not buy any.

These are all for curtains. Not many choices.
These are cheap.

Sample of my house grill

I decided not to go with the lines pattern for grill because I think by time it will go out of trend. I prefer to have flowers but not too much. At first we want to go for green colours for the leaves and the branch is the copper colour. Then, I decided why don't we do it all white. Simple, modern and nice.

The shop invited us to see the sample before they started work. We went during our lunch time. A few comment that we give them was we want the leaves to be 'pateri' strongly to the background grill. They said it is only sample so the furnishing is not done properly yet. At that time, i just tawakal.

This is the shop we do our grill. The whole house it cost around RM3K. It is among the cheapest compared to others with their handyman work.

At first we wanted to do with this Malay guy near surau at sri serdang the same road with proton service station. Can't remember the name. He is cheaper by RM100 ringgit compared to this chinese grill. Unfortunately because of the quality is not that tidy (on my hubby's opinion) and he can't offer credit card. It is based on half payment before and another payment after the work being done. Therefore, we did not do with him. Rezeki masing-masing. Apa2 pon he is such a religious man. I respect that from him.

My hubby doesnt like the flower but I proceed it anyway because among all the samples in the book, I think this is the best option that is not that crowded and with all the circles. Sorry dear, you have to lived with it. Anyway, you liked the leaves right?

Phases of my house renovation

Alhamdulilah again. We finally managed to buy a house. It is a small single storey house. What we like about the house is the location of the house. It is only 5 minutes to our office. We will save a lot of money in a long term. Moreover, the house is facing a field and there is a playground. The house located near the surau and masjid, walking distance. School and other amenities are also walking distance. Eventhough it is an old and small house but the location make us decided to buy it. We don't even paln to retire in that house. It will be our investment as we are planning to buy a bigger house in the future, InsyaAllah.
Due to the condition, we need to do a few renovation. We decided to renovate the internal part and extend the kitchen. We will not do renovation for the porch just yet. So people we see the front of the house that is not that welcoming home but went you enter the house it will be beautiful and mesmerized by it, InsyaAllah.
Lets' see the progress of renovation works.
My friend. this is the part where we decided our toilet will be, at the back of the house. Before this, it is in the middle of the house. Maybe because of the old design, it has alot of walls as a separators and the toilet was divided into two, one for shower and another one for 'u know wat' thing. Now, we decided to make it only one big toilet instead of two.
This is where we extend the back part of the house. It will be the kicthen.
This should be our dining hall. Before this there was a wall in between deviding the dining at the kitchen. Hope you can imagine it.
Old windows.
This is a bigger room before this. We decided to make it smaller to make our store room.
Our back house is walking distance towards shops and surau. Very convinience.
This is the window that we are changing. It is more taller and modern.
We change all the windows in the house. For rooms, we will do a sliding windows.
We decided for the window above, we will change into a mirror, just to let the sun get into the house and make the place brighter eventhough without switching on lights. Previously, it was a normal window. I am lazy to open and close and clean the windows. So we end up put a huge glass instead.
This is the living hall. It is quite small. We extend a bit to the front.
View of the back of the house.
Kitchen ceiling
The front part before extend. That is my Endon contractor. We charge us much cheaper than you take a Malaysian contractor.
This is a sample only ok.

Samples of other people's houses

With our father advised, we went to see other people's houses. We want to get ideas how they renovated their houses. At first, we wanted to settle down with only extending our kitchen, after surveying a few house we have another idea that is to move the toilet to the back of the house. It makes the house looks spacious and it is weird if the toilet is in the middle of the hallroom. Now, went we have guests, the guests will not see the toilet. It is more practical in such a way.

Lets' look at other people's house.

This is the first house that we surveyed and this is also one of first renovation in that area. So they don't have much ideas. But the makcik is over friendly. I think the whole neighbourhood is overfriendly. Maybe because it is a Malay comunity area. This is the living room.

This is the dining hall. They also break the walls in between the kicthen and the living. They moved the kitchen at the back. The toilet is the same position. If you can see the toilet is on the way to the kicthen, it is on the right side.

the kicthen

Entrance to the kitchen and living hall.
This is the second house that we went to see. We only pick houses that is recently renovated and it looks great from the outside. This is owner of two kedai mamaks. So they moved their toilet to the back next to the kitchen. The make an aisle to the toilet. Still two toilets but both with toilet's seats and shower.

The entrance to the kicthen
Their kitchen. Big and nice.
The room is still intact but they make it as s solat space.
From the front. I loved the front porch.
They have also fan in the porch.
The owner, husband and wifey. They said they hired a contractor and it cost them almost RM100K. gulp... They told us before this they were renting the same house, after their business making money, they decided to buy and renovate the house. This is the living hall. Beautiful, clean, and nice house.
The front gate of the Mamak's house.
This is the third house we went to surveyed. It was owned buy a retired husband and wife. The husband even message people. Lucky hubby for that. They extend the front of the house. This is masterbedroom. It is quite big after they extend.
This is the dining hall. Very spacious after they bring the walls and another room that was there.
They make the dining hall to watch tv. Very spacious and i liked it so much.
The kicthen also very spacious.
The toilet they moved it to the back and still very spacious eventhough there are two toilets. I just can't believe it. Later, i learn their house in that row have a bigger lawn. So they can simple used all the space at the back. Nice. Even then kitchen have a big dining table.
This is the dining hall and on the right is the living hall. I like the way they position the lights and fans.
Another view of the dining hall.
The fan of the dining they put in the middle on top of the bim. Clever.
