Kitchen Cabinet Lesson 101

I just learn a few things from this Kitchen Cabinet guy. He thought me a few things how to identify your kitchen cabinet is quality eventhough with your eyes you see the KC is the same. What makes it different...let's see.

 

1) skirting

KC skirting is the part between your KC and your KC floor. There are 2 types. One is aluminium and another one is wood. The quality is by using aluminium skirting because it will not decayed or spoil if water touches it.

2) Spray or sticker

With spray, the colour will be sprayed on the glass and the colour will last longer. While sticker the colour depending on the colour of the glass the sticker being sticked on. All glass have a little bit colour in them. If one of the glass broken and you want to replace one door of the KC, you may get a different shade with other doors. This is because the factory may produce a different type of glass etc. Moreover with sticker it can be peel or being scratch by sharp objects or the colour may shabby by time.

3) Edging 3G

if you use sticker, edging of the steel will be wider. If for melamin, there are normal or ABS edging. With normal edging, the edge will be sharp and it can peel off if water or heat touch it.

Spray. The steel is very thin.

 ABS edging for melamine.

Non ABS or normal edging, sharp and can be peel by time.

 

4) Types of wood

With quality wood there are cockroach guaranteed. If you want to check a better compress wood it has a green stripes. A non quality compress wood it has only one colour.

 Green stripes is better compressed wood.

Upper wood is less quality compared to layered wood

 

5) Tray

Quality of the tray. The latest tray trend is made of aluminium. If you choose the stainless stail option make sure it is rust stain. If it is rusted, you will have a problem pulling the tray out of your KC.

 6) Edging for table top

The furnishing of the edge for table top for granite. If the joining with L shape is much smooth and nicer.

7) Hydraulic opening for glass door

Smooth opening.

 

8) Soft close doors and drawer

Soft close meaning the door of the KC will not be bang when you close it. No pictures of soft close but you have to test it yourself.

 

At the end of the day, the budget is the main thing to be consider.

Puasa 2012

Puasa this year is very much different from other years eventhough I already experienced fasting with husband and son in my life. This year puasa is quite busy as our house in Serdang is under construction. We are doing extension at the back to make it as a kitchen and we breaks all the walls. We decided we will not do the porch yet. In my heart I am thrilled to see the progress. The endon guy that we called 'Asu' does his job very fast. He can just breaks the walls in one day and another do the kitchen. Hubby is worried about the increasing of the cost and budget as we are adding more and more things like grill, security door, tiles, toilet's stuff, extend the front house, high windows panels. 'Asu' told us that he needs to level the floor because he need to do tiling and it involves more cost. For the cost part, it is quite challenging but other than that I am excited with the renovation.

Hubby recently, being attacked by chicken pox. It been a week until today and we are closing to Raya. Today is the 20th night of fasting. I don't think that Hubby is going to celebrate Raya with his condition. People said, if a grown up have chicken pox it will be worst than a child. The healing will take longer, the diseases will be cruesome. Now, his face and body is covered with chicken pox. He refuses to eat as the chicken pox is inside his mouth. I pity my hubby. I hope I will not be infected because I need to look after Irfan. I decided not to make Irfan to get it because it will be Raya soon and I pity for him. Maybe when he is a little bit bigger.

I have not make any cookies this year as my house is such in a war scene. Need to be strong to go through this and not forgetting to pray to Allah malam 10 terakhir to make our life more better and happier. InsyaAllah and Amin.

harap korang tak konfius antara cornice dan plaster ceiling (PC). kalau nak buat PC kena amikkira ketinggian siling dan lantai.. takut nanti bila buat pc rasa macam ada benda nak hempap kepala sbb jarak antara pc ngan kepala dekat sangat..kalau siling tinggi sesuai le kalau siling rendah better pasang cornice jer.. aku nak pasang jugak... pasang

Ini suggestion kontraktor tu, pasang lampu warm light (orange). Kalo tgk tv lampu lain bole tutup pasang lampu ni je.

There are many types of toilet basins now out in the market. If you compare the china made basins and some of the others from more reputable brands you may notice the following. The smooth finishing on the sink is not as nice if you compare to ones from like Johnson Suisse, etc...

To the average consumer, these items are not things we care too much about. The other problem is the chrome part that is clipped on to overflow hole, tends to lose the chrome bit through chipping. This happens even if you take care not to accidentally brush or scrape too hard on the item. In the end after 1 - 2 years your sink looks worse for wear and not as classy as you once thought.

Besides Johnson Suisse, there are some other brands that you can check out such as American Standard and Premtex which all are established in Malaysia. If you want to do your comparison on prices, below is a link to some shops selling these products in Klang Valley that i've been too before.

Alternatively you can also check with Zheilwane since there have been quite a number of forumers that have used his services before. Personally i find you can get the best deals during sales period of the various shops, just keep a look out in the Metro section in The Star for ads.

What the brand of the bulb, lots of shop selling cheap but they use cheap bulb and ballast. Check is the ballast whether got Sirim sticker on it. My neighbour kena before those cheap bulb and ballast will fail very early.
